Indicators
TICK (NYSE TICK Index)
Definition
The NYSE TICK index measures the number of stocks on the New York Stock Exchange trading on an uptick minus those trading on a downtick at any given moment. Extreme readings above +1000 or below -1000 often signal short-term overbought or oversold conditions. Futures day traders use TICK as a leading indicator to gauge real-time buying or selling pressure in the broad equity market.
