Slippage
Definition
Slippage is the difference between the expected price of a trade and the actual price at which it is executed. It commonly occurs in fast-moving markets or when trading large size in low-liquidity contracts. Positive slippage (getting a better price) is possible but less common. Futures traders account for slippage in backtesting and use limit orders to reduce its impact on live trading performance.
