Moving Average

Definition

A moving average smooths price data by calculating the average closing price over a specified number of periods. The two most common types are the Simple Moving Average (SMA) and Exponential Moving Average (EMA), which gives more weight to recent prices. Futures traders use moving averages to identify trends, dynamic support and resistance levels, and crossover signals for entries and exits.
